2025 CCPS Trinidad & Tobago Meeting | AIChE

The Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS) and Heritage Petroleum are pleased to announce the upcoming 3rd CCPS Regional Trinidad and Tobago Meeting, scheduled to take place in person on October 9, 2025

This year's forum is anticipated to bring together over 200 participants from across the energy and chemical sectors, including representatives from academia, government, regional industry leaders, and safety professionals. The event will focus on strengthening regional collaboration, fostering knowledge-sharing, and driving excellence in process safety management.

We are also seeking speakers who are willing to share real-world incident experiences, from which lessons learned can benefit other stakeholders across the industry.Presenting at the event offers a unique opportunity to contribute to collective learning, enhance safety culture, and drive process safety improvements across the region.


Agenda Highlights

The program will feature high-impact presentations, including:

  • A powerful keynote address by Mr. Joe Meenan, a Piper Alpha Survivor, sharing reflections on resilience, leadership, and the enduring safety lessons from one of the deadliest offshore disasters in history.
  • A retrospective on the 1979 Atlantic Empress–Aegean Captain collision, featuring Rear Admiral Richard Kelshall, who will share emergency response insights and strategic reflections from this major maritime incident off the coast of Trinidad and Tobago.
  • Tentative Presentation: A firsthand account of the Macondo (Deepwater Horizon) oil spill, to be delivered by the Williams Emergency Response Team. This presentation will cover large-scale incident response, coordination challenges, and critical process safety takeaways. Please note this session is subject to confirmation based on the team's availability and current emergency response commitments.
  • Local case studies from the Trinidad and Tobago energy industry, focusing on practical improvements, innovations, and lessons learned to enhance safety performance and operational integrity.
