Meeting Agenda:

  1. Opening Remarks (Eric Freiburger or Sarah Eck, PFFC Chair and Vice Chair)
  2. Invited Speaker
    • Presentation Title: CCPS Project 323: Process Safety in Contract / Outsourced Manufacturing Operations
    • In this presentation, we will provide a status of CCPS Project 323, an update to the book, “Guidelines for Process Safety in Outsourced Manufacturing Operations.”   This project was launched in response to a Chemical Safety Board recommendation issued as an outcome of an investigation of the explosion at a contract manufacturing facility in December 2020 at Belle, West Virginia.  Although it goes by many names within the PFFC industries – contract manufacturing, tolling, external manufacturing, outsourced manufacturing, and more – PFFC companies are familiar with these manufacturing arrangements and have best practices to share that can help assure safety for all parties involved.  The Presentation will cover:

      • An overview of the CSB investigation report findings from the 2020 Explosion in Belle, West Virginia, that involved three parties involved in a toll manufacturing agreement
      • The status of CCPS Project 323, which was kicked off as an outcome of the CSB report and will help provide guidance for manufacturing partnerships
      • Provide time for PFFC member companies to discuss and provide advice regarding best practices to help avoid process safety events when engaged in outsourced manufacturing partnerships
  3. Closing Remarks
