New engineers head off to their careers after graduation, all too often without any idea of what to expect. There is all this knowledge bouncing around in your head about unit operations, mass balances, thermodynamics, and so on, but no real guidance as to how to use it. The good news is that you can take these skills and use them to become a great engineer. The bad news is that you can also use them incorrectly and derail yourself along the way. Fortunately, in addition to all the things you know…there are skills and talents that you may not even realize that you have, which may be your strongest assets. This presentation is about those things that can trip you up along the way that you may not have expected, and also about how to use ALL of your skills. It’s also a talk about what Chemical Engineers really do, after all, in industry.
