Fluidized beds are a very important and common process technology used for everything from roasting coffee beans and drying agricultural grains to fluid catalytic cracking and pharmaceutical granulation. This webinar explores the fundamentals of fluidization: how materials fluidize; differences in fluidization characteristics based on size and density; minimum fluidization; bubble formation, size and coalescence; and fluid bed flow regimes. In addition, practical design issues such as distributor design and configuration, level measurement, fluid bed internals and entrainment of particles out of fluid beds are discussed. Lastly, we show some common configurations for fluid beds used in plants and beyond.
