This paper discusses a number of strategies that the US refiner can implement to increase overall selectivity to mid-distillates.  Specific examples regarding the conversion of FCC pre-treating to mild hydrocracking, full conversion of VGO to middle distillates with increased selectivity to diesel and the recent addition of new residue hydrocrackers to maximize diesel production are discussed.
