This paper examines the end of life condition of ethylene cracking tubes which use an anticoking barrier technology. As new technologies are applied to improve cracking tube performance, it is difficult to evaluate the maintenance requirements for coil replacement. Case studies show the effect of operation on a Spinel anticoking surface tube technology. Operating temperature, location and carburization are compared from various coil types in an ethane feed.
