This course offers an overview and introduction to process safety and was co-developed by AIChE’s Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS) and industry. It was developed to create awareness and knowledge of the fundamentals of chemical process safety for everyone in an organization. Process safety is employed within the chemical industry during the manufacturing and storage of its products to ensure the safety of its processes for workers, the environment, neighbors and anyone nearby these operations.
Case studies will be presented to further understand the necessity of implementing a process safety culture within an organization. Additionally, elements of the Risk Based Process Safety (RBPS) approach framework that responds to various governmental requirements for managing process safety will be introduced.
