The award will consist of $400, plus a ticket to the CRE Division Dinner, where the recipients will be officially recognized.

To be eligible, the student must be a member of the AIChE and present a paper (oral or poster) at the Annual Meeting in one of the CRE Division sessions. The nomination for this award should be made by the student's research advisor. Each advisor may nominate only one student. Only members of the CRE Division may nominate students. Students may win this award only once during the course of their graduate studies. There are no forms to be completed. The nomination package should include:

1) The presentation abstract;

2) A resume, up to 2 pages in length and highlighting the student's accomplishments, including the student Grade Point Average (GPA);

3) A single page recommendation letter from the faculty advisor.

Factors that would play a role in the section criteria include – presentations given by the students, quality of the abstract, record of publication, detailed recommendation letters specifically highlighting the scholarship and ability of the student to communicate their findings to a scientific audience.

The nomination material must be sent electronically by email as a single PDF file titled LASTNAME_FIRSTNAME CRE TRAVEL AWARD 2025 (where LASTNAME and FIRSTNAME should refer to the applicant’s name) to the 2nd vice chair of the division, Rebecca Fushimi rebecca.fushimi@inl.gov. 

The award consists of  a plaque presented at the CAST Division dinner at the AIChE Annual Meeting.

  •      Full nomination package should consist of a single PDF file that contains all of the following items to be sent to to michael.molnar@dow.com. This is a one-step process.  Any issues with your nomination will be communicated to the nominator.

• Nomination Packages includes:

1. Filled nomination form (download from Nomination Packet form)
2. A letter of nomination stating how the nominee contributed to the science and technology of particle processing in its commercialization, and
3. At least three and no more than five supporting letters, with at least one from industry
4. The nominator must be current PTF member
5. If the nominee has previously received any award from AIChE or one of its divisions/forums, and explicit statement of new accomplishments or work over and above those cited for the earlier award(s) must be included (max. of one double spaced page).
6. Selected bibliography (including books, patents, and major papers published).

Each of the four finalists will receive 1,000 USD to cover any travel and conference registration costs.

The chosen winner will also receive a cash prize of 5,000 USD.

Candidates must be nominated by their PhD supervisors (as a general rule: one nomination per supervisor). Nominations need to be accompanied by the following supporting documents:

• An abstract (max 500 words) of the candidate’s lecture topic.
• A list of all accepted publications including DOI
• Copies of key publications (max. 3) in full length
• The candidate’s complete curriculum vitae, including (expected) date of PhD defense
• A personal letter of recommendation from the PhD supervisor
