The ideas of process intensification and modular chemical processes offer the promise of fundamentally changing the way the process industries operate – from the types of equipment employed to the business models of industry participants.  In this talk, Jim will look at recent developments, will touch briefly on market, economic, and regulatory forces and technology trends that are creating a pull for modular and intensified process and will finish with a discussion of RAPID, a Manufacturing USA institute.

Jim Bielenberg, PhD, is the former Chief Technology Officer of the Rapid Advancement in Process Intensification Deployment (RAPID) Manufacturing Institute. He has spent the last 15 years working in various areas of new technology development, including 12 years working at ExxonMobil.

He is a co-inventor on over a dozen technology patents across chemicals technology, refining technology, coal gasification, and biofuels processing.
