He obtained his PhD, also in Chemical Engineering, from the University of Minnesota. After obtaining his PhD, Professor Wickramasinghe worked in the biotechnology industry for Sepracor Inc. and later Hemasure Inc., in Marlborough, MA as well as Biogen IDEC in Boston, MA.
