Robert Stoll, who recently ended his government service as the Commissioner for Patents, teaches practitioners about the complexities of the new America Invents Act. He explains how patentees can better protect their valuable patents and how challengers can advantage their positions in contesting competitors’ patents. He provides insights about the factors to evaluate when deciding whether to use the new Inter Partes Review procedures and the Post Grant Review procedures or to go to the courts instead. He discusses the tactics that would provide the best outcomes in both procedures.

Robert L. Stoll is a partner on the Patent team at Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP. He earned his J.D. 1985 from the Catholic University of America and his B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering in 1979 from the University of Maryland.
