Development of a Commercially Viable Algae Biofuels Process
- Type: Archived Webinar
This presentation provides an overview of a process to produce algae bio-crude from algae grown in open ponds using non-potable water and non-arable soil. It identifies the advantages of algae as a feedstock to biofuels, the technical challenges associated with algae production and conversion, and the technical progress of one of the leading algae biofuels companies, Sapphire Energy.
Those who would benefit from listening include process engineers, R&D engineers, professors in sustainability and bioprocessing.
After 15 years with BP Oil, Ben Saydah joined Sapphire Energy in 2011 where he is the Director of Algae Conversion and Oil Upgrading. At Sapphire Energy he is leading the effort to scale up Sapphire’s proprietary algae to bio-crude oil conversion process and the operation of Sapphire’s demonstration scale algae conversion unit in New Mexico.
