Second CCPS Global Summit on Process Safety Scheduled for November 3 to 5 in Kuala Lumpur

October 26, 2015

The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and its Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS) will host the 2nd CCPS Global Summit on Process Safety in the Kula Lumpur, Malaysia, from November 3rd to 5th. The summit is co-organized with Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP). The conference theme, “CCPS Vision 20/20,” will draw representatives from more than 75 organizations, along with 20 sponsors and exhibitors from industries, including oil and gas, chemical and petrochemical.

Last year, CCPS initiated its 1st Summit on Process Safety in Mumbai, India, in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of the Bhopal tragedy. The Global Summit is one of the initiatives that CCPS has undertaken in support of its Process Safety Vision 20/20 program, which is designed to transform industrial process safety practice. Recalling the success of the last year’s summit, CCPS Executive Director Shakeel Kadri said that this year’s event Kuala Lumpur “will provide an even broader platform for process safety leaders and experts from industry; government, including regulatory authorities; and academia to share the latest advances in process safety.” The program will feature panel discussions, formal paper presentations, and informal discussions and networking.

PETRONAS is the host sponsor of the 2nd CCPS Global Summit on Process Safety. Additional sponsors include Acutech Consulting, Oman Oil Refineries and Petroleum Industries, Process Safety and Reliability Group Asia Pacific, Reliance Industries, Air Products and Chemicals,  DuPont, and Halliburton.

Honorary Minister of Human Resources, Malaysia -YB Dato’ Sri Richard Riot Anak Jaem, will present the inaugural address. Chair of the Global Summit, Datuk Ir. (Dr.) Abdul Rahim Hashim, Vice Chancellor, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Malaysia, will provide the official welcome. CCPS Technical Director Louisa A.
