Directions from Central Station to Institute:

When exiting the Central Station building, keep walking up the street on the left side of the fountain to get to the tram stop for tram no. 1 and tram no. 5 (towards Grombühl). Both trams head directly to the Institute and are generally available every 8 minutes. The ride will take about 6 minutes. Please leave the tram at the stop "Würzburg Uni-Klinik, Bereich D". Across the street, about 10 meters up the hill, you will see a big steel gate for pedestrians. The yellow building behind it is building D15, in which our Institute for RNA-based Infection Research is located at. You can enter via the west entrance right at the corner of the building or through the main entrance, which is located up the left hillside around the building.

Enclosed please find the Campus Map in which the entrances are marked (link to Campus Map).

Bikes can be rented at: https://www.nextbike.de/en/wuerzburg/

Trams are an easy way to get around in the city. I am also enclosing a network map for trams in Würzburg (link to network map). The tram schedule can be looked up under: https://www.vvm-info.de/home/fahrplaene/fahrplanauskunft/verbindungsauskunft-echtzeit.jsp (link is only available in German).

Hotels in Würzburg:

The Ghotel or the Lindleinsmuehler hotel are both affordable and close to the conference site. However, virtually every hotel in Würzburg (including those two) is now booked. A few hotels have vacancies in Veitshöchheim and Höchberg. Veitshöchheim is farther away has beautiful views along the Main river. In either case, taxi rides to and from would be the fastest, although riding public transportation would be much cheaper. Below are some hotels with vacancy from Sunday (September 15) to Wednesday (September 18):

  • Maritim Hotel Würzburg (my recommendation)
  • Hotel Melchior Park
  • Ringhotel Wittelsbacher Höh
