Annual Meeting and COVID-19

In February, AIChE formed a task force to actively monitor the development and impact of COVID-19 on global travel and to minimize risk to attendees of our events. The task force is continually evaluating and monitoring the situation and contingency plans for all conferences.

Given the importance of the Annual Meeting to researchers and job seekers, the complexities involved in making significant changes, and the meeting’s November date, we are currently planning the 2020 AIChE Annual Meeting as scheduled.

Please visit the Frequently Asked Questions web page to learn more about AIChE's planning efforts in relation to COVID-19 and the Annual Meeting.

Abstract Submission Steps

Make sure you have all your information ready before you start an abstract submission!

  1. Select your Session/Topic for your abstract submission. A list of sessions will be available when you select a general group to submit to. You can also browse session topics in the preliminary program.
  2. Submit your abstract title and presenter information
    • Abstract title may not exceed 150 words.
  3. Enter author and co-author information for your abstract
    • This includes: Full Names, E-mail Address, Affiliation, & Affiliation Address
  4. Upload your abstract text, including any references
    • In most cases, the word limit is 1,500 (please see individual divisions/forums for specific word limits). "Meet the Candidates" Poster Sessions have additional requirements, outlined in section below.
    • There is not a specific template for abstracts; however we recommend summarizing the major aspects of your work in a single paragraph (1-2 sentences for each section):

      •    Major Findings/Results

      •    Summary of your interpretation of the data or conclusion

      •    Optional: List of references, any images or graphs to explain your work

Including these key components will help session chairs review and evaluate your abstract and ensure correct placement within the program.
    • Optional: Image Upload - If you have any images/tables you need to upload with your abstract submission, they must be merged into a single image file to be uploaded.
  5. Select any keywords relevant to your submission. A list of available keywords can be found here
