Outstanding Young Professional Award |
The “Outstanding Young Member Award” will be given each year to reward outstanding service to the local section and encourage future participation. This award was created by the STS Executive Committee in 1959 and renamed the STS “Outstanding Young Professional Award” by the STS Executive Committee in February, 2006. |

Distinguished Service Award |
The “Distinguished Service” Award will be given each year to reward outstanding service to the local section and encourage future participation. |

Young Chemical Engineer of the Year |
The "Young Chemical Engineer of the Year Award" is to be given annually by the Engineer's Week Committee to honor outstanding young engineers as part of the Engineer's Week Activities. The South Texas Section first presented this award in 2000 and it was given to the person who had received the STS' Outstanding Young Professional Award in the previous year. |

Chair Appreciation Award |
Upon completion of the term of office as the Chair of the South Texas Section (STS) of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the Past Chair will be honored with a plaque expressing the South Texas Section’s appreciation for serving the STS as Chair-Elect, Chair, and/or Past Chair with the year served as STS Chair indicated. This award is automatic and no nomination is required. |

Lifetime Achievement Award | The South Texas Section – AIChE Lifetime Achievement Award is a special award to be given at the pleasure of the South Texas Section - AIChE Executive Committee in recognition of an individual’s efforts, contribution, and achievements in behalf of or the South Texas Section – AIChE and, to some extent, AIChE as well as being documented as being a Member of AIChE for more than 25 years. This award is not an “annual” award. The recipient must be a member of the South Texas Section (STS) of AIChE and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. |

The South Texas Section Edwin L. Ekholm Continued Distinguished Service or Distinguished Leadership Award (Ekholm Award) was created to honor Mr. Edwin L. Ekholm for his many years of distinguished service to the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and, in particular, the South Texas Section of AIChE (STS). |

“Gary” Award in memory of Gary L. Leach |
In 1993, the Executive Committee of the South Texas Section of AIChE, under the leadership of Peter J. Waldheim, created a special award to be given at the pleasure of the South Texas Section Executive Committee in recognition of an individual’s or a group of individual’s efforts in behalf of the Science of Chemical Engineering, the Chemical Engineering Community, The American Institute of Chemical Engineers, or the South Texas Section of AIChE. |

Organization Recognition & Appreciation Awards |
The South Texas Section - AIChE Recognition & Appreciation Awards are to be presented at the pleasure of the South Texas Section (STS) Executive Committee in recognition of a public or private organization that has made services and/or facilities available for the benefit of the South Texas Section – AIChE at no or minimal costs. |

Robert L. Churchwell Environmental Award |
The “Robert L. Churchwell Environmental” Award may be presented to reward outstanding service to the local section and encourage future participation in Environmental Related Programming and as a memorial to Mr. Robert L. Churchwell who was instrumental in the STS’s early environmental programming efforts. |

Special Service Award |
“South Texas Section (STS) Special Service Award” will be given on a case-by-case basis to reward outstanding service to the local section at the committee level. |

Valued Friend of the South Texas Section - AIChE |
The Valued Friend of the South Texas Section-AIChE Recognition is a special award to be given at the pleasure of the South Texas Section (STS) Executive Committee in recognition of a “prominent,” “prestigious,” or “notable” individual who has served as an after dinner or special meeting keynote speaker. This is not an “annual” award and the recipient does not have to be a member of the South Texas Section of AIChE, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, or even have an engineering background. More than one such recognition award may be presented in a calendar year unless the STS Executive Committee decides otherwise. |
