Get Involved

STS-AIChE YP has a number of volunteer opportunities. Below are some examples of activities.

Academic Events

• Contact local Universities about opportunities to assist with technical events or to present technical topics.

Advertising

• Create and distribute flyers for upcoming events.
• Create brochures and pamphlets

Houston Science & Engineering Fair of Houston

• Judge projects to be awarded an AIChE scholarship

Membership

• Greet and ensure all first time Young Professionals at events receive an information card, membership application, and gift

Newsletter

• Write articles about upcoming Young Professional events
• Write articles about topics of interest to Young Professionals

Offshore Technology Conference

• Assist with the registration for one day
• Provide assistance for the setup and dismantlement of displays

Photography

• Take pictures of Young Professionals at meetings and events
• Post pictures on the website and newsletter

Process Technology Conference

• Assist with the website and brochure contents
• Monitor conference rooms providing assistance as needed
• Provide assistance for the setup and dismantlement of displays

Professional Engineering Review Course

• Assist with set-up on exam review course evenings
• Assist with registration for the exam review course

Social Events

• Assist with organizing events such as a dinner, happy hour, bowling, etc.

Technical Events

• Present a relevant topic at a meeting
• Identify presenters to speak on relevant topics
• Provide assistance for presenters including audio visual set-up
• Assist with organizing events such as a plant tour

Website

• Review and update content on the website
