Professional Engineering Licensure

A Professional Engineer (PE) is an engineer that has been licensed by one or more states. The license symbolizes that the engineer has met state's education, exam, and experience requirements to demonstrate competency in a field of engineering. It shows that the engineer is both competent and ethical in protecting the health, safety, and welfare of the public.

James Wei    

James Wei was born in China, and came to the United States in 1949. He received his Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1952, M.S. and Sc.D. in Chemical Engineering from MIT in 1954 and 1955 (with a minor in Fine Arts from Harvard), and a degree in Advanced Management from Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration in 1969. Sheldon E. Isakoff 

Dr. Sheldon E. Isakoff, former director of Engineering Research and Development at DuPont, was a major force in research at DuPont for more than 40 years. After receiving his PhD from Columbia Engineering, his began his work at DuPont, which culminated in many patented developments, including the EFT Dacron and nylon processes, Mylar and Cronar process improvements, and the first Lycra plant in the world. Edward L. Cussler

Edward L. Cussler, currently Distinguished Institute Professor at the University of Minnesota, received his B.E. with honors from Yale University in 1961, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin in 1963 and 1965, respectively, working with E. N. Lightfoot. After 13 years teaching at Carnegie-Mellon University, Cussler joined the University of Minnesota in 1980.
