The Hydrogen Safety Panel meets at least once annually to consider significant and timely safety topics with the intent of identifying safety gaps and recommendations. The following are typically covered at the meeting:

• Recent hydrogen related incidents that have occurred
• Recent private or publicly funded hydrogen projects that have been assessed for strength and potential weakness to ensure safety is adequately considered
• Potential safety gaps are identified from the above activities and task groups are created assess gaps and provide recommendations
• An overview of national activities in hydrogen and fuel cell technologies will be presented by a representative of the U.S. Department of Energy Fuel Cell Technologies Office
