The Call for Papers is now open for the 5th SBE International Conference on Bioengineering and Nanotechnology on August 1-4, 2010 in Biopolis, Singapore. Chairing the conference is Professor Jackie Y. Ying of Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology. Keynote speakers include Buddy Ratner of University of Washington, USA, Kazunori Kataoka of the University of Tokyo, Japan, and Tae Gwan Park of Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Korea.
Society for Biological Engineering Honors James LiaoAIChE's Society for Biological Engineering (SBE) has awarded its fifth annual James E. Bailey Award to Dr. James C. Liao for advances in metabolic research. Liao is the Chancellor's Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles. He has made major contributions to biochemical engineering with his theoretical and his experimental work, and has an international reputation that extends well beyond the chemical engineering community.
Distinguished Service Award in Biological EngineeringThe Society for Biological Engineering (SBE) has awarded its first service awards to Dr. Wei-Shou Hu, a professor at the University of Minnesota, and Miranda Yap, executive director of the Bioprocessing Technology Institute in Singapore.
