Calls for effective multi-omic data integration are growing, and with it, the need for explanatory-AI (or xAI) has arisen. COBRA methods provide a structured and fundamental basis for data analysis and interpretation and should offer opportunities for xAI broadly for the life sciences. Three new directions for COBRA will be discussed: 1. BD2K; 2. Structural proteomics as an additional omics data type; and 3. The pangenome goldmine.
