Static Mixers Streamline Continuous Process Applications

These static mixers continuously mix liquid materials with a series of fixed elements. A three-step mixing design incorporates two-by-two-division; cross-current, counter-rotating vortices; and back mixing. Effective and efficient blending reduces the need to compensate for poor mixing by overdosing chemicals. The mixers are available in carbon steel, exotic alloy inline, and stainless steel to accommodate different process environments.

Compact Screw Compressor Is Available in High-Efficiency Version

The CSW85/95 compact screw compressor is now available with a high-efficiency motor. The compressor is suitable for water-cooled high-performance liquid chillers. The high-efficiency compressor is available in nine models with displacements from 410 m³/hr to 1,120 m³/hr (at 50 Hz) and from 495 m³/hr to 1,351 m³/hr (at 60 Hz). The compressor’s mechanical capacity can be adjusted from 25% to 100%. In addition, the compressor can operate with an external frequency inverter at a frequency range between 20 Hz and 60 Hz. The variable speed range depends on the operating conditions and input voltage range.

Blender Handles Small, Continuous Batches

The Mini Batch Blender uses a novel semi-continuous feeding and blending process. It combines the benefits of continuous manufacturing with the simplicity of a traditional batch process. The blender uses a simplified control strategy without residence time distribution (RTD) modeling. It can handle throughput rates below 1 kg/hr and up to 20 kg/hr. It is suitable for batches below 1 kg and drug loads below 1%. The blender is available as a standalone unit or fully integrated into a skid with loss-in-weight feeders, process analytical technology (PAT), and material handling. The blender also integrates easily into existing processes, such as tablet compression.

imagesFlowmeter Measures in Remote Locations

The Proline Promag W 800 flowmeter delivers reliable volume measurement of water supply networks. An integrated cloud connection remotely transmits measurements including flowrate and pressure, as well as status messages, such as device and process status, alarms, and battery level. The flowmeter offers targeted leak detection by water balancing between two measurment points or detecting pressure changes caused by water losses. The battery-powered flowmeter provides maintenance-free operation for up to 15 years. The SmartBlue app can be used to interact with the device.

Flow Switch and Monitor Is Suitable for Most Analyzer Sampling Systems

The FS10A analyzer flow switch and monitor measures flow within liquid or gas process analyzer sampling systems. The precision flow sensor element has no moving parts to foul, clog, or maintain. A convenient SP76 adapter supports and/or integrates easily with NeSSI standard compliant hardware. The flow switch and monitor can be used with nearly all types of process and emissions sampling systems, including gas chromatographs (GCs), mass spectrometers, optical spectrometers, and photometers. In addition, the device is fully sealed in an aluminum housing to protect electronics in harsh plant environments.

imagesLevel Transmitter Uses Noncontact Radar Technology

The Rosemount 1408H level transmitter is a noncontact radar device for the food and beverage industry. Noncontact radar is a useful level measurement technology for applications that require stringent hygienic facilities and equipment. The radar measurement is unaffected by process conditions such as density, viscosity, temperature, and pH. The transmitter has several features that improve operation efficiency and reduce product losses, including a hygienic compact design, fast sweep technology, improved radar beam focusing, and IO-Link communications. The compact design makes it suitable for small tanks and space-constrained skids. It has a top-down installation that reduces the risk of product loss through leakage. The transmitter uses 80-GHz frequency modulated continuous wave technology, which avoids internal tank obstructions to improve radar beam focusing and overall measurement accuracy. The transmitter uses fast sweep technology that collects up to 40 times more information than legacy transmitters. In addition, the transmitter has connectivity to the IO-Link communication protocol, making it easy to integrate with any automation system.

Pump Prevents Cross-Contamination

The Flexicon PF7+ peristaltic filling pump enables accurate and reliable filling of sensitive fluids in good manufacturing practices (GMP) production and cleanroom environments. Peristaltic technology prevents cross-contamination — only the inner bore of the pump’s single-use tubing contacts the fluid — to reduce waste of high-value products. The pump is suitable for every stage of biopharmaceutical therapy development, from research and development to clinical trials and small batch production.

Separator Lines Are Suitable for Bioprocessing

These separator lines are available in aseptic and pure models. The aseptic separator line is suitable for highly hygienic processes, such as human and veterinary vaccines, monoclonal antibodies (mAb), insulin, starter cultures, and probiotic products. The pure line is suitable for applications with varying hygienic requirements, such as nutritional supplements, therapeutic proteins, pharmaceutical extractions, and extracellular and intracellular enzyme recovery. Both lines meet high hygienic pharmaceutical requirements and are equipped for automatic clean-in-place (CIP) and steam sterilization-in-place (SIP).

Freeze Dryer Loading Systems Simplify Aseptic Vial Handling

The Hull semi-automatic loader (SALS-30) and high-speed row-by-row loader (RxR-36) offer reliable aseptic vial handling for advanced pharmaceutical processes such as lyophilization applications. The loading systems are suitable for small-batch and high-speed aseptic vial handling applications from research and development (R&D) to commercialization. The SALS-30 can handle medium- and small-batch applications (loading speeds up to 70 vials/min). The RxR-36 can handle full line vial applications that require higher speeds (loading speeds up to 400 vials/min). The loading systems integrate easily with development, pilot, and production freeze dryers. In addition, the systems are fully compliant with current good manufacturing practice (cGMP) standards.

Renewable Surfactant Enables Sustainable Formulations

The EdenSurf biobased surfactant can be used in formulations that are sulfate-free, environmentally friendly, and economical. The non-irritating surfactant additive offers similar performance of traditional surfactants, enabling it to serve as an alternative to sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and select zwitterionic surfactants commonly used in advanced product formulations. The material is sourced from sustainable, vegetative materials. It has a renewable carbon index greater than 90% and is certified readily biodegradable.

Integrity BioChem

Biobased Formulation Outperforms Traditional Surfactants

The SugaBoost 050 is a biobased, biodegradable surfactant that meets the demands of high-performance green cleaning formulations. The surfactant is a blend of functionalized alkyl polyglucoside (APG) surfactants that provides cleaning performance equal to or better than those that use alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEs). Avoiding the use of APEs is critical, as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has identified the class of chemicals as toxic to aquatic life. In addition, these biobased surfactants require less energy to manufacture than most surfactants and require only water as a solvent during manufacturing and cleaning.

Cleaner Removes Scale and Hard Water Deposits

MadBrew STONE ACID is a specially inhibited, low-foam acid blend to remove hard water deposits and scale. It is suitable as an A3 cleaning compound for food and beverage production facilities, as well as craft breweries of all sizes. The cleaner dissolves the crystalline molecular structure of calcium carbonate to enable the complete removal of deposits from kettles, heat exchangers, and other equipment. In addition, a chemical indicator reveals if enough cleaner is present. If the solution is red-purple, sufficient active acid is present for cleaning; if the solution turns yellow or is no longer red-purple, additional cleaner is necessary.
