“How to be an Effective Chemical Engineering Expert Witness - Part 1"

An expert witness is a person permitted to testify at trial due to their specialized knowledge in a particular field. Expert witnesses are paid, professional witnesses, as distinguished from unpaid fact witnesses who have personal knowledge of relevant events. A licensed professional engineer, (P.E.), can perform as an expert witness.

Chemical engineers are often hired as professional witnesses in various types of legal disputes including intellectual property (IP) lawsuits involving patent and trade secret rights. Attendees of this meeting will learn about the responsibilities of expert witnesses and will be introduced to the basics of patent law and trade secret law.

Peter Sibilski has over 40 years of experience in project management, product development, and energy management in the process-chemical and pharmaceuticals industries. He received his BSChE in 1981 from New Jersey Institute of Technology, and has an MBA in Technology Management from The University of Phoenix. Peter is a licensed P.E. in New Jersey, and is also a Certified Energy Manager (CEM).
