Annemarie Purmer is Hydrogen Process Safety Manager since 2020. She was previously Hydrogen HSSE mgr for Shell Hydrogen since 2016. She is in charge of safety risk management, assessing and defining the key strategies for codes and standards development both internally to Shell as well as externally. In addition she is a subject matter expert in safeguarding and as such part of the Shell safeguarding expert network.
Prior to her current position, she spent 10 years within Shell starting as technologist gathering operational experience via supporting refinery units and subsequently in various process safety and engineering roles until 2016 and becoming Hydrogen Safety manager.
She is Co-Chair of the Hydrogen Council Safety PT (worldwide Hydrogen Consortium) and locally in the Nehterlands member of the WVIP and ISO TC197 mirror committee.
Annemarie Purmer has a M. Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering from Twente University one of the leading engineering schools from the Netherlands.
