
Lauren Andrews is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She joined the faculty at UMass Amherst in 2017 after completing postdoctoral research working with Dr. Christopher Voigt at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard and Massachusetts Institute of Technology Department of Biological Engineering and the MIT-Broad Foundry. She received her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2012 working with Dr. Ryan Gill and her B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University in 2006. She is the Marvin and Eva Schlanger Faculty Fellow in Chemical Engineering and a faculty affiliate in the Molecular and Cellular Biology Graduate Program, Biotechnology Training Program, and the Institute for Applied Life Science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Her research group is developing programmable microbes and microbial communities using computational and high-throughput experimental approaches.
