Jenna Gallegos

Postdoctoral Fellow
Colorado State University

Jenna Gallegos is a postdoctoral fellow in Jean Peccoud’s lab at Colorado State University. The Peccoud lab uses synthetic biology to explore the application of computer languages to genetic engineering and the emerging field of Cyberbiosecurity. Cyberbiosecurity pertains to the security implications of cyber physical systems in life sciences research including DNA sequencing, DNA manufacturing, and tracking and authentication of biological samples. Jenna is particularly interested in cyberbiosecurity as it relates to biomanufacturing and emerging nontraditional landscapes for biological research such as community biolabs.

Jenna got her PhD from the University of California in Davis where she studied gene expression and biotechnology as an NSF graduate research fellow. Before joining the Peccoud lab, Jenna interned as a AAAS Mass Media Fellow at The Washington Post, and on the BioDirect team within Monsanto’s Agricultural Productivity Innovations Organization in Woodland, CA.
