2024 Intern and Co-op Presentation Competition: Abstract Submission Form

Did you enjoy your time as an intern or co-op during the spring, summer or fall 2024 timeframe? Did you work on a unique or exciting project?  Then enter for a chance to share your experience, practice your presentation skills, and win great awards!

Prizes:

  • $500 1st place
  • $300 2nd place
  • $200 3rd place(s)

Participants must meet the following qualifications:

  • undergraduate ChemE students (graduating Dec 2024 - Aug 2025)
  • industrial co-op and summer intern students during spring, summer or fall 2024
  • teams of 2 students are permitted if both meet qualifications

Students should present their original work done during the co-op or summer internship.  Students should receive their mentors’ approval before submitting an abstract.  Students must be available to present in October 2024 (specific date and time to be confirmed) with excellent lighting, audio and video along with a fast internet connection (>20 mbps suggested).

Presentations should be less than 10 minutes and will be judged by practicing chemical engineers and AIChE VLS members, based on:

  • Application/demonstration of chemical engineering principles to students’ work
  • Understanding of process and/or chemistry
  • Clarity/appearance of slides and presentation
  • Understanding how student’s work is used/applied/extended into other applications/industries
  • Ability to answer questions

Timeline:

  • 10/1/2024 - Abstracts due
  • 10/7/2024 - Students notified of acceptance
  • 10/14/2024 - Presentations due
  • 10/21/2024 - “Dry run” to test Zoom connections/audio/video
  • 10/23/2024, 9PM Eastern Timezone - Competition
