Dr. Tao possesses an extensive track record of executions and proven results in sales development, market research, business intelligence, database development, SAP data mine, M&A, financial analysis and planning, strategy and manufacturing excellence. He holds extensive knowledge on chemical company operational models and is a dynamic consultant in Townsend Solutions. He has worked for Specialty Chemical company Albemarle for 7 years holding various roles in Lithium and Refining Solutions GBUs as well as the Corporate Development function.
A Ph.D. in Computational Chemistry from the University of Maryland in College Park, he also obtained an MBA in Energy Finance from the Tulane University. Dr. Tao further conducted Molecular Dynamics research at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory at the U.S. Department of Energy, University of Sothern California and Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich in Germany. He is bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese.

This presentation addresses current petrochemical industry’s several interests by region, such as, China is trying to develop a more “structured” supply/demand, US-China trade war acts chemicals differently, Sustainability is still a mainstream issue driving attention, investment and growth on a global scale, and M&A activities continue industry consolidation and favorable debt markets. It also gives an overview of polyolefin market supply/demand, which serves as an example of Townsend Solutions’ industrial development.
