Join the South Texas Section for our monthly dinner meeting at the University of Houston Student Center South (map). The meeting will follow the Southwest Process Technology Conference (SPTC) on Monday evening, please join us for that as well. The Dinner event will be in the evening after the technical sessions are finished. As part of the Dinner event, we are organizing a reception coinciding with the Student Poster Session of SPTC. You will get a chance to interact with the Graduate Students from the local Universities and discuss with them their research projects.
If you are registered for the Full SPTC meeting or are registered for Monday Only, the reception attendance is free of charge. However, there is a separate charge for attending the reception if you are not registered for SPTC. Following the reception, we will have networking and dinner. The dinner will be followed by announcements as well as recognition of accomplishments by STS members in an awards ceremony.

Keynote Presentation (1 PDH by STS)
Topic
Renewable Natural Gas
Abstract
The talk will be focused on the generation and production of Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) from organic waste. Conventional methods for processing biogas will be explained along with technical and operational challenges. Potential next-generation process adaptations will be described including addition and integration of carbon capture and storage. The benefits of RNG production and consumption will be highlighted and Mr. Whitmore will share his views on the market outlook and demand for RNG.
About the Speaker
Noah Whitmore is the Director of Biogas Development within the renewable energy division at WM. He and his team lead the development of new projects and facilities across North America which beneficially utilize biogas generated through the decomposition of organic waste. He led the design and development of the first facilities which converted landfill biogas into syngas and long-chain hydrocarbons and holds multiple patents related to methane and carbon dioxide recovery from biogas. Currently, his team’s focus is centered around the development of new processing facilities which upgrade raw biogas into renewable natural gas. Noah has worked for WM and in the biogas space for 18 years. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Physics and Environmental Studies from Whitman College and master’s degree in Earth Resources Engineering from Columbia University.
