Topic
Knowledge Management In The Process Industries
Abstract
In the process industries, effective knowledge management is essential for designing optimal and safe processes. Today’s rapid technological advancements and intense global competition demand continuous learning and the swift adoption of new knowledge. Modern computing power and vast data storage have accelerated knowledge accumulation, but they also present new challenges: preserving, indexing, sharing, and applying this information efficiently. Failure to manage knowledge effectively can erode a company’s competitive edge and, more critically, by using obsolete, or non-pertinent, or erroneous knowledge, it can increase the risk of safety incidents that may harm personnel and result in damage to plant assets. To address these risks and harness the full potential of both existing and emerging knowledge, organizations must establish and dynamically maintain robust knowledge repositories. This presentation will outline the key attributes of an effective knowledge management system and provide guidance on building and sustaining such a system. Additionally, the potential impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be part of the discussion.

Topic
The Changing Energy Landscape
Abstract
This presentation will examine how global energy outlooks have evolved their views on demand, supply, technology, and policy. Changes in key assumptions highlight areas of convergence and divergence by tracing how expectations for peak fossil fuel demand, electrification, and the pace of the energy transition have shifted. It will assess how changing energy narratives are reshaping projected feedstock availability, cost, and risk profiles for the energy and petrochemical industries and concludes with strategic implications, including portfolio choices, capital allocation, and capability building under growing uncertainty in long-term energy scenarios.
