January AICHE STS Virtual Meeting
Automating Internal, Confined Space Inspections
6:00PM - 6:30PM Announcements
6:30PM - 7:30PM Presentation
This presentation will highlight the recent use of the new Zenith Inspection System for internal, confined spaces. With the delay in 2020 inspections to the fall outage season, this was the first time Zenith was used in petrochemical turnarounds. Zenith is a drone inspired drop camera system meant to tackle challenging confined space inspections with more ease. A few reasons Zenith was selected for use: its fully automated data collection process, it runs for hours on a single battery and because it has great payload capabilities allowing for high resolution visual and additional payloads such as LIDAR, thermal, and extra lighting beyond 10,000 lumens. A major chemical company has successfully used their Zenith system on multiple inspections this fall outage season. In addition, the presentation will also show how Zenith makes it easy to begin using robotics for inspections – allowing the traditional plant inspector to pick up a Zenith and start using it in minutes.
