The STS Executive Committee would like to thank STS members who participated in the 2021 elections.

Congratulations to our new Officers!

Julie D. White, 2021 STS Chair Elect (2022 STS Chair).

As an Advisor in Strategic Process Safety for Chevron, Julie provides planning, leadership, and execution support for Chevron Operational Excellence/HSE audits. Her industry experience includes a diversity of operations, process, and process safety engineering in the petrochemical, polyolefins, offshore, and federal sectors. Her leadership experience includes stewarding multi-regional cross-discipline teams, managing technical safety teams, developing industry and remote best practices, and inspiring professional societies for growth.

Over her career, Julie has volunteered on seven industry committees, presented at fourteen conferences, been published in a journal, and has received six honors. As President of the Colorado School of Mines Society of Women Engineers (1990-91), university membership tripled by surveying and continuously engaging membership. During her tenure, STEM volunteering was reinvigorated and ‘Evening with Industry’ began which continues to be a networking opportunity and funding source for scholarships today. Julie initiated, developed, networked, and led the first Engineer’s Week on the Colorado School of Mines campus including STEM volunteering and industry events.

Julie obtained her B.S. and M.S. degrees in Chemical Engineering from Colorado School of Mines (1993) and Louisiana State University (1999).

Yurika Diaz Bialowas, 2021-2022 STS Treasurer.

Yurika is the Senior Technical Support Engineer at Chemstations, Inc. Her experience in the computer software industry includes Process Simulation, Process Engineering, Process Optimization, Process Design, Process Control, and Refining.

In addition to serving as STS Treasurer since 2017, Yurika is a mainstay in our local section as a volunteer leader. She is very active in STS K-12 Outreach events, with a passion for increasing interest, awareness, and excitement for science and engineering in K-12 students, to prepare future engineering students and professionals to creatively solve technical challenges in an ethical, environmentally responsible, and socially conscious way.

Yurika received her B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Calgary.

Mahdi Nouri, 2021-2022 STS Officer Position #1, Continuing Education.

Mahdi is Founder & Principal Consultant of Triumph Gas Technology Consulting in Houston, Texas. He has over 21 years of experience in gas processing and cryogenic gas processing (NGL and LNG facilities) and Low Carbon (carbon capture and utilization including CO2 compression & dehydration and transmission).

Mr. Nouri has held key leadership roles in design and execution of over two-dozen gas processing plants, and five LNG facilities and several gas treating and processing plants debottlenecking projects. He is principle author for a new reference book on Gas Treating and Processing: Practices in Design and Operation Book (CRC Press). He has published various papers in the world of gas processing, and has presented the keynote addresses for the AIChE Spring gas utilization conference in 2017 and 2019. He was also honored with the GPA Midstream Committee Volunteer of the Year Award 2018, the F&PD Outstanding Presentation Awards at AIChE/2015 & AIChE/2016. Mr. Nouri is also the Chairman of the Facility Design, Operation and Maintenance Committee, the Chairman of the Facility Forum and member of Program Committee since 2017 at GPA Midstream; Director of AIChE Management Division (2019 – 2021), Director of AIChE F&PD (2017 – 2020) and Chairman of Gas Utilization Conference AIChE Spring Meeting (2019 – 2021).

Mahdi obtained his B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering at Azad University. Mahdi is a Fellow of IChemE.

Romina Myrtaj, 2021-2022 STS Officer Position #3, Communications.

Romina is the Sales Account Manager at Aspen Technology. In her career, she has led projects that included managing the Houston territory for an international company, increasing their sales from zero in the territory to $500K in less than one year.

Romina is very active in volunteering. She is the Program Coordinator of the Gulf Coast Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the Treasury Specialist in the SPE-GCS Women in Energy (WIN), and the SPE-GCS Marketing Publicity Manager. She also manages the SPE-GCS webinar program.

Romina received her B.S. in 2011 and her M.S. in 2013, in Industrial and Environmental Chemistry from the University of Tirana, Albania.
