CWRU May 2025 Classes Module # 11 on Anheuser Busch Brewing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Sustainable Projects that convert waste streams into secondary product streams. Converting waste beer into industrial grade ethanol with distillation or collecting CO2 from fermentation to re-carbonate a non-alcoholic beer after the alcohol and CO2 are stripped off in evaporation or distillation to create the non-alcoholic beer are just two examples of recovering a waste stream of beer or carbon dioxide into a profitable secondary product stream. The course was a one hour presentation by Joe Yurko on brewing, fermentation, and ESG processes with O'Doul's that was followed by a case study workshop of an O'Doul's four stage evaporation process simulation executed by Ben Horwitz on ChemCad simulation software for students to follow how a simulation software program can greatly help in setting operating parameters from simulation into the operating process for the most efficient and optimum system performance generating product.
