1.  ABSTRACT DEADLINE EXTENDED FOR THE 2020 AICHE ANNUAL MEETING

It’s still not too late to submit to present in the Education Division at the 2020 AIChE Annual Meeting in San Francisco!  Titles of planned sessions are below, and the deadline to submit an abstract has been extended by AIChE to Thursday, April 30.

  • New Approaches to Active Learning and Student Engagement
  • Communication Skills for Students and Academic Professionals
  • Incorporating Sustainability and Social Responsibility Topics in ChE Courses and Curriculum
  • Poster Session: Chemical Engineering Education
  • Supporting Faculty, Staff and Students – Helping Others Achieve Success
  • Computing and Data Science in ChE Education: In Honor of Fred Justice's Contributions to the Education Division
  • Free Forum on Engineering Education: First Year and Sophomore Year
  • Free Forum on Engineering Education: Junior and Senior Years

2.  CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS: ED-DIV WEBINARS COMMITTEE

Have you grown in your live, web-based communication skills lately? Want to help connect chemical engineering educators with good ideas from across and beyond our membership?

3.  CALL FOR NOMINATIONS: 2020 ED-DIV AWARDS

Please nominate a colleague for the 2020 AIChE Education Division awards. All three awards have a completed nomination deadline of June 30, 2020.

4.  CALL FOR PARTICIPATION: BRIEF SURVEY ON RAPID TRANSITION TO ONLINE TEACHING

As we are at a unique time in higher education, we are hoping to capture this experience in a research study.

We are asking individuals in the engineering community who are experiencing a transition to online teaching to participate in an online survey and answer a short prompt. The survey will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete. Answers will remain completely confidential and be deidentified prior to dissemination.

EdDiv Webinars are archived via the AIChE Academy, and are always freely available to EdDiv members. Now through June 30, 2020, they are also available for free to all AIChE members! Suggest a webinar you’ve enjoyed to a colleague, and then suggest that they join EdDiv.

To submit an EdDiv announcement, please prepare a maximum of a 2-3 paragraph description including any relevant URLs and contact information as well as a subject line. Do not include any attachments. Email this information to Katie Cadwell <kdcadwel@syr.edu> with the email heading “For EdDiv Announcements.” Announcements will be sent out near the beginning of each month.  Each announcement will be included once, unless otherwise requested. Announcements will also be recorded on the Division website: http://www.aiche.org/community/sites/divisions-forums/education-division .
