A few more writing tips
Dear Editor,
I liked your February 2022 editorial “Writing Tips for the Non-Writer” (p. 3). As a practicing engineer for 45 years, I’ve also suffered through the pain of writing something that makes sense to others. Based on that, I’d like to offer some input to your tips.
- Consider replacing “state your purpose” with “business proposition.” Too many of us technical people have become enamored with our technology; we often fail to remember that somebody pays our salary to make the world a better place, and maybe also make some profit along the way. Unless there is a viable path to commercializing our work, most of the rest of the world simply doesn’t care...
