The convergence of Information Technology (IT) and Operations Technology (OT) platforms has exposed modern industrial control systems to increased risk. Cyber threats have the potential to affect multiple layers of protection, including basic process control, process alarms and safety instrumented systems. This presentation will explore the connection between cybersecurity and process safety, look at some of the day to day threats the process industry faces and approaches to harden the systems that control and protect our facilities.

Tim Gale of aeSolutions will present; he is an ISA 62443 Expert, ISA 61511 SFS and his experience in design, commissioning and start-up of process control / process safety systems around the world. In his current position, Tim is responsible for Cybersecurity Data Analysis, Risk Assessment, Industrial Cybersecurity Program development and Cyber-Factory Acceptance Testing.
