Awards & Scholarships

John C. Heiman Memorial Scholarship 

This scholarship is given in memory of the late John C. Heiman who made significant contributions to AIChE on a national scale and local level, and was a strong advocate of the Texas Gulf Coast Section's scholarship program.

Eligibility

Student must be a graduating senior in a Brazosport or Matagorda County High School, which is represented by the membership of the Texas Gulf Coast Section (TGCS) of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE).  Qualifying area high schools are:

• Angleton
• Bay City
• Brazosport
• Brazosport Christian
• Brazoswood
• Columbia
• Danbury
• Sweeny
• Van Vleck

To be eligible for the scholarship, the student must enroll in Chemical Engineering major at an accredited college or university.

Amount: One scholarship award of $1000

Selection

The recipient will be selected from the nine area high schools in our local section of AIChE.  Criteria for selection are:

• Academic achievement
• Leadership and extra curricular activities
• Financial need
• Interest in Chemical Engineering
