Treasurer
The treasurer handles the local section finances and accounting for all local section money received and spent, including membership dues, reimbursements from AIChE, and program revenues and expenses. This involves keeping accurate records, and reporting the local section’s financial status according to the manner and schedule prescribed in the bylaws. The local section officers should clearly establish guidelines and procedures for authorizing expenditures, paying bills, signing checks, and any other financial related actions, with the treasurer responsible for keeping copies and records of all transactions. The treasurer reports on all requests to the Executive Committee or other officers, including status of bank balances, dues collections, expenses relating to specific projects, and any abnormal account activity. The treasurer is also responsible for preparing an annual budget in the beginning of the term, and should prepare an annual report on the local section’s fiscal condition at the years-end, and submit to AIChE with the annual report.
Term
Two year term starting Jan 1 of odd numbered year through Dec 31st of even numbered year, or until a successor is elected and takes office.
Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible over Financial Records and Accountant (per the organizational chart)
- If Chair, Chair-Elect, and Secretary are unavailable, preside at all meetings (per Article IV Section 2 of STS-AIChE Bylaws)
- Collect and disburse funds as authorized by the Executive Committee (per Article IV Section 4 of STS-AIChE Bylaws)
- Works with AIChE to arrange Local Section dues accounting and remittance
- Maintains copies and records of all transactions
- Prepare a proposed annual budget with the Chair and Chair-Elect, no later than November of each year
- Prepare an end of year financial summary, submit it to AIChE with the Local Section annual report
- Prepare and submit the Return of Organization Exempt from Income Tax to the Internal Revenue Service for the fiscal years of the term of office served (per Article IV Section 4 of STS-AIChE Bylaws)
- Has signature authority for the bank account
- Report on requests to the Executive Committee including status of bank balances, dues collections, expenses relating to special projects, and any abnormal drain on funds STS Executive Committee Position Description
- Updates signature card for Local Section bank account
- At the term’s end, orient the new Treasurer, turning over all financial records and necessary account authorizations

Education Officer
Plans and implements activities to provide members with professional development opportunities and employment (job seeking) assistance, networking and relationship building opportunities between employers/industry and employees, information on local employment data, trends and statistics, general career guidance services. This person/committee may also be responsible for planning E-Week activities and outreach.
Term
Two year term starting Jan 1 of odd numbered year through Dec 31st of even numbered year
Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for finding workshop speakers in the following categories: CAST, Environmental, Plant Operations, and Process Safety. May delegate these categories to others (per the organizational chart)
- Responsible for providing continuing education credits and/or keeping track of attendance

Communications Officer
Administers and manages the operations behind the local sections newsletter, publication, website, a e-communications. Coordinates efforts with respect to Government Relations and Public Relations.
Term
Two year term starting Jan 1 of odd numbered year through Dec 31st of even numbered year. ≤ 35 years of age at start of term
Primary Responsibilities
- Voting member of the Executive Committee – Attendance at ExCom meetings
- Organizational responsibility for the newsletter, website, e-mail blasts
- Directs the webmaster, newsletter editor, et al (volunteer or pro) with respect to priorities, content policy, schedule, etc. and screens/packages work requests to maximize efficiency
- Writes scope of work for any professional assistance required, and recommends the professionals to do that work. (Note that only the Chair/Chair-Elect/Treasurer can sign contracts in the name of the Section)
- Helps expedite content update information from the other volunteers
- Requests an appropriate budget and oversees the spending of same
- Maintains access information and security of access information.
- Coordinates coverage of functions as necessary to meet schedule needs and identifies/recommends permanent replacements when needed.

Webmaster- Volunteer Position
Maintains the website, e-communication and e-registration pages under the direction of the Communications Officer.

N/A - Volunteer positions are not voted in members, so this position is available as long a you are interested in the job.
Primary Responsibilities
- Updating website as needed for upcoming events
- Draft emails as needed for upcoming events and announcements
- Review the Newsletter drafted by the Communications Officer and ensure website is consistent
- Work with Social Media Position to provide information for social media posts
