Experts weigh in on the future of US refining

US refiners must be ready to adapt to the world's shifting energy needs if demand for traditional liquid fuels wanes, said Phillips 66 chief analyst Horace Hobbs at a recent event. "So if folks do not want gasoline in the future, then we are going to have to find a way to respond to that, and supply the things that we can supply that there is real demand for," Hobbs says.

NextDecade sells Rio Bravo pipeline project to Enbridge

Enbridge has agreed to acquire NextDecade's 137-mile, 4.5 billion-cubic-foot-per-day Rio Grande pipeline project in a deal worth $25 million. The proposed pipeline originates at the Agua Dulce hub near Corpus Christi, Texas, and connects to NextDecade's planned Rio Grande LNG project at the Port of Brownsville.

Philly refiner's bankruptcy plan approved by judge

Judge Kevin Gross of the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware approved Philadelphia Energy Solutions' reorganization plan and approved the $252 million sale of the fire-damaged PES refinery in South Philadelphia to Hilco Redevelopment Partners. Redevelopment of the site could take up to 15 years, city of Philadelphia managing director Brian Abernathy said.
