4. CALL FOR APPLICANTS: ACADEMIC LEARNING SPECIALIST AT SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY
The Center for Learning and Student Success (CLASS) center at Syracuse University is hiring two Academic Learning Specialists responsible for developing, overseeing, and leading academic support services for students, including academic coaching, one-on-one and small-group tutoring, workshops and clinics. This work will involve: collaborating with the director and associate director to plan and design new academic support programs; providing direct academic support to SU students; designing and leading peer tutor & academic coach training that meets College Reading and Learning Association certification standards; and oversight of academic support programs. The Academic Learning Specialist will also work with the associate director on data collection, analysis, and academic research to assess academic support programs.

These positions may be of interest for recent chemical engineering MS or PhD graduates primarily interested in teaching and/or student support services, as an alternative post-graduate experience. The positions are permanent, but applicants seeking a 2-year term will also be considered. For more details, please visit the postings at https://www.sujobopps.com/postings/76018 and https://www.sujobopps.com/postings/76019. Syracuse University is an equal-opportunity, affirmative-action institution.

5. CALL FOR MENTORS: FUTURE FACULTY MENTORING PROGRAM
The Education Division of AIChE sponsors the Future Faculty Mentoring Program, which seeks to pair late-career graduate students and post-docs who are seeking faculty positions with more senior faculty in Chemical Engineering departments.

Over the last several years, the program has grown in size and popularity, but we are currently mentor-limited! We would very much like to expand our pool of mentors for the upcoming 2018-2019 cohort, and are especially seeking female faculty mentors.

If you know of outstanding associate or full professors in your department (or NTT/Teaching Faculty of equivalent experience), please encourage them to consider being a mentor.

From the mentor perspective, the program entails being paired with 1-2 mentees, attending a kickoff meeting with them at the AIChE Annual Meeting (normally Sunday evening), meeting monthly with their mentee(s) (phone, Skype, virtually), and attending a virtual mid-year web conference to debrief the program. Our hope is that some of these relationships continue well beyond the formal one-year length of the program.

More details as well as the application instructions can be found at the Education Division Website:
https://www.aiche.org/community/sites/divisions-forums/education-divisio...

The mentor application is open now, and will close in early September. If there are any questions about the program, please feel free to contact Prof. Daniel Burkey at ddburkey@alum.mit.edu

6. CALL FOR LOCATION PROPOSALS: ASEE CHEM-E SUMMER SCHOOL
The next ASEE Chemical Engineering Summer School for faculty will be held in the summer of 2021. Please consider putting forward your institution and department as a host for this important event. The Summer School prepares new faculty for a fast-start in research and instruction by providing workshops and resources in core chemical engineering topics, proposal writing, and pedagogy. The Summer School also provides an excellent networking opportunity for new faculty to meet and begin collaborations with other ChemEs across the country and around the world as well as to begin mentoring relationships with a wide array of senior faculty workshop facilitators. Hosting the Summer School provides an opportunity to showcase your department and institution. To apply, please complete the web form at https://goo.gl/forms/kfSq1DPSXjYa5pBs1. (note form questions are available to download through the link so that you may answer questions off-line before submitting).

For full consideration, please submit an application by September 1, 2018.

The most recent Summer School was held in 2017 at NC State University: http://www.chesummerschool.org.

Sincerely,
Margot Vigeant, chair, and the Summer School 2021 Committee:
Taryn Bales, Daniel Burkey, Laura Ford, Milo Koretsky, Daniel Lepek, Matt Liberatore
