Environmental Division Early Career Award

This award is intended to honor an individual with outstanding contributions in environmental chemical engineering in the early stages of the recipient’s career. It is awarded to a member of the Environmental Division considered on the basis of one or more of the following criteria:

Criteria

  1. The nominee shall have attained no more than twelve (12) years of professional service after receiving the most recent degree in chemical engineering or a related field. Beginning in the 2025 application cycle, the nominee shall have attained no more than ten (10) years of professional service after the most recent degree in Chemical Engineering. The Environmental Division recognizes extenuating circumstances may interrupt careers. Therefore, individuals with extenuating circumstances affecting this criterion will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

    1. The Environmental Division recognizes some individuals may acquire an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering (or a related field), enter the work force for several years, and then acquire an advanced degree. These situations will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, acknowledging the intent of the award is to recognize an individual in the early stage of their career.

    2. The Environmental Division recognizes that a “related field” may be a subjective phrase. Degrees in related fields will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

  2. Nominees must show one or more of the following:

    1. A demonstrated record of contributions to the environment through the application of chemical engineering principals shown by demonstrated leadership in such areas as research, teaching, engineering, or regulatory activities in either the public or private sector.
