Adam Uliana

Adam Uliana is a PhD candidate at the University of California, Berkeley. He graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 2017 with a major in Chemical Engineering and three minors. As an undergraduate, Adam spent a semester researching nanofiltration membranes at KU Leuven (Belgium), interned at Air Products and Chemicals, and conducted research at Penn State and in Rwanda on a Moringa-functionalized sand filter. His undergraduate research led to eight co-authored publications. At Berkeley, Adam is advised by Prof. Jeffrey Long. His primary graduate research has focused on...Read more

Karina Kawka

Karina Kawka is a final-year PhD Candidate in the Department of Chemical Engineering at McMaster University in Canada, co-advised by Professors David Latulippe and Raja Ghosh. She received a bachelor’s degree in Bioprocess Engineering and Biotechnology from the Federal University of Paraná in Brazil. Her current research focuses on the development of scalable and cost-effective downstream processes for the purification of therapeutic viruses. The work is centered on applying membrane chromatography for the removal of host-cell impurities, but it also integrates the study of other unit...Read more

Yi Ding

Yi Ding received a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Tsinghua University in Beijing in 2016. He then came to the United States to pursue a Ph.D. degree at Purdue University under the guidance of Dr. Nien-Hwa Linda Wang. His dissertation research mainly involves ligand-assisted chromatography for the separation and purification of rare earth elements from complex mixtures. The clean and efficient chromatography processes for rare earth elements purification can provide the driving force for a sustainable and circular rare earths economy. His work has resulted in two patent...Read more

Shane Lawson

Dr. Shane Lawson graduated with his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the Chemical & Biochemical Engineering Department at Missouri University of Science and Technology under the supervision of Dr. Fateme Rezaei in May, 2021. Presently, he is employed as a Senior Engineer in the media technology group at Donaldson Company. During his PhD studies, his research goals were to develop functional materials for adsorptive and catalytic applications, with particular emphasis on implementing structured adsorbents and catalysts in applications such as CO2 removal from flue gas, dilute CO2...Read more

Yu-Ming Tu
