Steve Schmid

Steven R. Schmid, Ph.D., P.E., FASME, FSME

Steven R. Schmid received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology; Master of Science and Ph.D. degrees at Northwestern University; was a professor for over 25 years at the University of Notre Dame, and is currently the Belk-Woodward Distinguished Professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.  He conducts research and teaches courses in the general fields of manufacturing, metal forming, tribology, and design. Benjamin Knudsen

Benjamin Knudsen is the general manager for BASF Enzymes, heads research for White Biotechnology in North America, and global enzyme research at BASF.

Ellen Wright

Ellen Wright is currently a Senior Chemical Engineer in global R&D at Ecolab within the Life Sciences division. As the project technical lead, she develops new innovations for Cleaning, Sanitation & Disinfection programs for the non-sterile pharmaceutical, cosmetic & personal care industries. In addition, she contributes as technical support for Ecolab’s sterile pharmaceutical cleanroom customers in Life Sciences.

This year, AIChE Management Division is kicking off three themes where we'll be focusing our initiatives to promote the management and leadership disciplines.

Briardo Llorente

Briardo is a CSIRO Synthetic Biology Future Science Fellow at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia, and an Associate Investigator of the Australian Research Council Center of Excellence in Synthetic Biology.

Briardo's current work is focused on implementing synthetic biology approaches to study evolution and developing biotechnological innovations. He is also interested in engineering biological systems to help support the human exploration of space.
