Alexander Urban

Alex Urban is an Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering, one of the core-members of the Columbia Electrochemical Energy Center (CEEC), and an affiliate member of the Columbia Data Science Institute. Research in his group focuses on understanding and discovering materials for clean-energy applications using atomic-scale modeling and data science.

Carly Filgueira

Dr. Carly Filgueira obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry Magna Cum Laude from The George Washington University in Washington, DC. In her second year as an undergraduate, she was awarded the A.D. Britt scholarship which sponsored her to perform research in the Chemistry Department at GWU under the direction of Dr. J. Houston Miller. She continued in the Miller lab until undergraduate graduation, where they worked on the application of UV-VIS spectroscopy and elastic/inelastic light scattering to examine the chemistry between gold nanoparticles and biopolymers.

Nongnuch Artrith

Nongnuch Artrith is a Research Scientist in Chemical Engineering at Columbia University partially funded by the Center for Functional Nanomaterials at Brookhaven National Lab.  Nong received her PhD in Theoretical Chemistry from Ruhr University Bochum, Germany (Prof. Jörg Behler).  She was awarded a Schlumberger fellowship for postdoctoral research at MIT with Prof. Alexie Kolpak and subsequently joined Prof. Gerbrand Ceder’s group at UC Berkeley as a research specialist.  Nong applies computational methods to understand and design realistic materials for energy storage and...Read more

Tal Sholklapper

Dr. Tal Sholklapper is the CEO of Voltaiq. Before co-founding Voltaiq, Dr. Sholklapper was the lead engineer on a DOE ARPA-E funded project at the CUNY Energy Institute, developing an ultra-low-cost grid-scale battery. Prior to his work at CUNY, Dr. Sholklapper co-founded Point Source Power, a low-cost fuel-cell startup based on technology he developed while at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Cheryl Smyre

Cheryl leads the Parkdale Advanced Materials division, with a keen focus on the creation of new fiber technologies and delivering sustainable innovative solutions to the textile industry.

During her 23-year career with Parkdale, she has led International Sales, Global Supply Chain and Customer Relations.   Her International Business degree from the University of South Carolina and multi-cultural background, have served as an asset to the company on a global scale. Edwin Keh

Mr Keh is the CEO of The Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel. He is also on Faculty at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology where he teaches supply chain operations.
