The Presidential Lecture, which debuted at the 2019 Annual Meeting, serves as an important venue to showcase some of the most significant contributions that chemical engineers and related professionals are making today. The unopposed lecture is chaired by the AIChE President.
This lecture was jointly established, in 2008, in memory of James Y. Oldshue by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and the Interamerican Confederation of Chemical Engineering (CIIQ/IACChE).
This award is endowed by the AIChE Foundation thanks to the generous support of the Andreas Acrivos Award for Professional Progress in Chemical Engineering.
In memory of Professor Jay Bailey for his many pioneering contributions to biotechnology, the award is presented to an individual who has had an important impact on bioengineering and whose achievements have advanced this profession in any of its aspects.
This year's John M. Prausnitz AIChE Institute Lecturer is Karen K. Gleason, Alexander and I. Michael Kasser Professor of Chemical Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Dr. Udit Batra is Chief Executive Officer of MilliporeSigma, the $7.5 billion Life Science tools business of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany and a member of its Executive Board.
