AIChE Cleveland Section January 2020 Meeting

At the center of the debate about climate change is how to produce electricity without releasing CO2 to the atmosphere. The most contentious and largest form of carbon free electrical production is nuclear power. This Presentation will go over the history of nuclear power plants from early designs, to the modern large electrical generation stations and look at potential future plant designs. Discussion will be provided on how newer designs will be more accident tolerant, will produce less long-term radioactive waste and will be more cost efficient.

Chad King

In this inaugural role, Chad launched the Center for Sustainability in 2012, where he works across campus units to connect institutional and regional practices to the curriculum. Prior to this, Chad was faculty in Environmental Science at Ohio Dominican University. He earned a master's and PhD in Sustainable Agriculture from the University of Arizona. Chad currently serves on the board of Transportation Solutions, and is a member of the Mayor's Bicycle Advisory Committee.Read more
