Get a Handle on PRV Stability

Pressure Relief Valve (PRV) stability challenges for existing installations are not unique to any particular segment of the chemical process industry and are widely debated. Download this paper to gain a clear understanding of how and why PRV instability occurs through animation of key concepts, flow variables, and PRV lift under a variety of scenarios, configurations, and conditions. Important concepts are highlighted by one dimensional fluid dynamics and a single degree of freedom representation of a spring loaded pressure relief valve using Process Safety Office® SuperChems™ to demonstrate the risk and cost reductions detailed PRV stability dynamics can have on a facility.

Cheryl Kerfeld

Cheryl Kerfeld is the Hannah Distinguished Professor of Structural Bioengineering at the MSU-DOE Plant Research Lab and the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Michigan State University.  The Kerfeld Group  (www.kerfeldlab.org) is focused on structural synthetic biology, specifically on the structure, function and engineering of modular carotenoid-binding proteins that mediate cyanobacterial photoprotection and in self-assembling metabolic modules in bacteria, with the goal of repurposing these protein-based architectures...Read more

Anu Raghunathan

Anu Raghunathan is currently a Principal Scientist in the Chemical Engineering Division at CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory in Pune. She has been with NCL for the last 10 years. Before that she was working as a faculty in Infectious Diseases at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in NY, NY. Her research group, the Metabolic Inquiry and Cellular Engineering (MICE) group, uses systems approaches (both experimental and computational) to understand biological cell behavior and function. She works on applying these principles to understand drug/antibiotic resistance in cells and also manipulate...Read more

Tips and Tricks using BlueBeam Software in Engineering Projects

Tuesday, January 14, 2020,
6:00pm to 8:00pm
EST
Terry Brown has been in the engineering design business since pencil was put on vellum. Changes from manual drafting to using Microstation and AutoCAD still required printed drawings and hand markups. Printing to Adobe Acrobat’s PDF file format made it easier to transmit the files, but did not...Read more
