New York – The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) has launched an International Certificate on Sustainable Standards for Engineering (ICOSSE) for tradeshow exhibitors. The program was piloted in cooperation with DECHEMA, the German-based Society for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, at ACHEMA. Based on exhibitor response, it will now be used at other events.

NEW YORK CITY – The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) announced that Michael P. Harold, M.D. Anderson Professor of chemical and biomolecular engineering at the University of Houston, will become editor of the AIChE Journal, its flagship research and development publication. Harold will replace Stanley I. Sandler, who is retiring with the December issue after more than 10 years in that position.

Its initial focus will be on determining the optimal roles and approaches for chemical engineers addressing water access, purification and sanitation, and the “water-energy nexus,” the relationship between the energy footprint of water and the water footprint of energy.
