AIChE Chem-E-Car Competition

Cheer on college students competing for the international title in the 21st Annual AIChE Chem-E-Car Competition.

Get a front row seat to the action at this exciting competition during which teams of college students design, build, and operate cars powered by a chemical energy source, that must safely carry a specified load over a given distance, and stop using another chemical reaction.

Teams design and build their shoebox sized cars in the months leading up to this day, but they don’t find out the target load their car must carry or the target distance their car must travel until 1 hour before the start of the competition, forcing teams to use real-time problem solving skills to succeed on competition day.

Who is AIChE?

AIChE is the world's leading organization for chemical engineering professionals, with more than 60,000 members from more than 110 countries.  Each year, over 1,500 chemical engineering undergraduate students and over 5,000 professional chemical engineers, faculty, and graduate students travel from all over the world to attend the AIChE Annual Meeting and Annual Student Conference.

The AIChE K-12 STEM Showcase will take place during the AIChE Annual Meeting and Annual Student Conference, offering the next generation of STEM professionals (your K-12 students) a unique opportunity to learn more about STEM &Chemical Engineering directly from AIChE’s best and brightest Chemical Engineering professionals and students.

The AIChE STEM Showcase is generously supported by the AIChE Foundation and is made possible by AIChE members and volunteer leaders from our K-12 Committee, Executive Student Committee (ESC), participants in the AIChE K-12 STEM Outreach Competition, and general AIChE Annual Meeting and Annual Student Conference Attendees.
