Freeman E Self, Jr Freeman is employed by Bechtel, Houston, Texas as a principal process engineer. His career has spanned over 40 years, where he specializes in process safety and pressure relief design. He is a Bechtel Corporate Fellow and an AIChE Fellow. Active in technical groups such as the American Petroleum Institute’s Committee for Pressure Relief and DIERS, he presents and publishes frequently. He served on the Managing Board of CCPS and on numerous technical meetings as session chair and general arrangements. Mr. Self graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology, obtained a Masters in chemical engineering from Rice University and an M.B.A. from the University of Houston.
